Description

Responsibility for subcontract order placement across a range of light rail projects across the West Midlands region, including but not limited to stakeholder communication, supplier setup and together with the commercial teams negotiate terms and conditions and place final orders. Experience of pro-active supplier relationship management. A requirement for some materials and services order placement.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST
Ordering of construction materials and subcontract services, estimating team support, supplier relationship management activities including supplier management, organisation of daily workload, periodic reporting to Head of Procurement, cost analysis and value adding activities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications

• CIPS desirable but not essential. Evidence of strong basic education at GCSE grade A-C.

Knowledge/Experience

• Minimum 3 years experience in a subcontract buyer role within the construction industry. Experience of the rail industry desirable but not essential. Demonstrable negotiation and communication skills, ability to demonstrate attention to detail and knowledge of contractual obligations. IT literate and proficient in use of Microsoft office packages. Strong people skills and an ability to liaise with all levels of personnel.
