Brew Monday sessions held to raise awareness of mental health

Cafe sessions were held at MMA’s Head Office and a Site Office earlier today in aid of Brew Monday, a campaign that aims to raise awareness of mental health.

The third Monday in January is typically known as Blue Monday for being the most difficult day of the new year as the festive cheer starts to fade and post-Christmas bills begin to arrive. The Samaritans have developed the Brew Monday campaign to encourage people to get together and have conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

MMA colleagues gathered in the kitchen at our Head Office in Alpha Tower and at the canteen in one of our site offices to have a drink and slice of cake, with donations from the event going to the Samaritans.

Buildings across the region including the Library of Birmingham and Dudley’s Council House were lit up green as part of the #BlueMondayGreen campaign to banish the blues. Colleagues across the alliance and its partner organisations were also encouraged to wear something green.

Staff at West Midlands Metro were also at tram stops in Wolverhampton and Birmingham this morning to hand out coffee vouchers, encouraging members of the public to get involved with the campaign and chat with someone new over a hot drink.
