Having successfully led the Midland Metro Alliance since its creation in 2016, Alejandro Moreno is returning to parent company, Colas Rail, where he has been appointed as Managing Director for Lundy Projects Ltd.
On behalf of all the Midland Metro Alliance members, the Alliance Leadership Team (ALT) would like to thank Alejandro for the leadership, drive and commitment shown throughout his tenure. This has seen the MMA successfully achieve a number of key milestones, including in December 2019 the early opening of the UKs first catenary free extension from Grand Central to Centenary Square.
The ALT are pleased to announce that we have appointed Peter Cushing to replace Alejandro as Alliance Director. Peter is extremely experienced in the delivery of tram systems having overseen the development of much of the Manchester Tram network during his time at Transport for Greater Manchester.
More recently Peter has been playing a key role across the light rail industry as the Interim CEO for the newly established Light Rail Safety & Standards Board (LRSSB), a role that for the last few months he complemented by concurrently supporting Transport for West Midlands as Acting Metro Director.
This period of direct involvement has allowed Peter to gain a thorough understanding of the MMA, its client and key stakeholders, as well as providing visibility of the exciting body of work it is set to deliver over the next 6+ years.
Peter brings a high degree of technical expertise and a track record of delivery. He is keen to build on the good work already achieved under Alejandro and to develop the future success of the MMA so it remains the preferred delivery partner for Transport for West Midlands.
